Marvin Devilbiss, long-time PVFF member and former Club Director, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 25th. Many of PVFF’s newer members may have never met Marvin. His failing health in recent years prevented him from attending monthly meetings, but those of us who were fortunate to know him would best describe Marvin as a quiet, friendly, gentleman, very knowledgeable about the sport that we all love. Marvin was also a generous contributor to PVFF, and an outstanding wood worker. Marvin and his wife Barbara regularly attended the PVFF Annual Banquets, donating fresh fruit baskets and intricate hand-crafted bowls and serving tools that Marvin had fashioned for the club’s Silent Auctions.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 30th at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, New Windsor, Maryland. Contributions in memory of Marvin Devilbiss may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. The family also invites others to leave messages and memories on the “tribute wall” at www.hartzlerfuneralhome.com.
