Join us for the first Fly Tying Roundtable session in the New Year on Wednesday, January 16th and learn how to tie the “Woodduck Heron” from this evening’s guest Tier, Vernon Wilson. This fly was developed by noted New Hampshire Fly-fishing and Fly Tying legend, Nick Lambrou, who was named Fly Rod & Reel Magazine “Angler of The Year” in 1988!
A regional New England favorite, the “Woodduck Heron” has proven deadly not only for Brook, Brown and Rainbow Trout, but has taken more than its fair share of Landlocked Atlantic Salmon as well. Thought originally tied to represent an emerging Hexagenia mayfly, this pattern also does an excellent job mimicking small baitfish like Smelt, Dace, and other natural-found forage fish too. This Fly should also work great in the Mid Atlantic!
Join us at 7:00 PM in Room 109 at Trinity United Methodist Church 703 West Patrick Street. As is our policy, the PVFF will provide all materials for this Fly so bring your tying equipment and vise. Loaner vices and basic equipment will be available. New tiers are encouraged to attend.
