Our club has been invited by the National Capital and Seneca Valley Chapters of Trout Unlimited to participate in a stream clean up of Clifford Branch, a native brook trout stream located in Frederick County. PVFF and TU will provide trash bags. Volunteers should plan on bringing their own gloves, waterproof shoes and water. The event is on December 5 from 9am-1pm.
Our focus will be cleaning up the parking areas and stream. Each parking area only has room for a few cars so we will be spread out over a few locations. All of the locations should be on Frederick Municipal Forest land. The areas are equally littered with trash but the largest lot and main focus area should be the lot near the yellow gate (labeled as “Three Saws Trailhead” on google maps). About 7 or 8 cars can fit in that lot. These areas are very popular with mountain bikers and parking may be a challenge. Here is a map of parking and the clean up areas. If you’re interested in participating, send us a note.
