Combined Beginner/Roundtable Fly Tying Session
November 19, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Colin Flournoy will be leading the tying of the Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear, a classic nymph pattern, that evening. The Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear Nymph (hereafter referred to as GRHE), is believed to be created around 1910 by an English fly tier who used hare’s ear dubbing for the nymph’s body as simply a modification on the long-lived Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear Wet Fly. It was tied then with a fur tail and body and a fur ‘hackle’. The GRHE Nymph is a staple pattern in most every fly fisher’s fly box, since it characteristically represents the Mayfly nymphs found in freestone streams and rivers.
