Sugarloaf Treasured Landscape Event: Through the Eyes of Aquatic Life!

Join Envision and Michael Kashiwagi, Regional Manager for MD DNR’s Western II Division as he: – Demonstrates the technique of electrofishing to collect fish in freshwater streams, rivers, and lakes – Explains the importance of habitat to survival of brook trout and other species in the Sugarloaf regions waterways, including Bennett and Bush Creeks – Shows us how seining is also used to identify and monitor fish health by capturing specimensIdentifies specimens from Sugarloaf tributaries and paints a picture of their current health – WHEN: Nov. 13, 2021 10 a.m. followed by a hike in the Sugarloaf region – WHO: Michael Kashiwagi has published academic research, trained stream monitors and oversees aquatic life in the Monocacy and other waterways in the region, and was a member of the Sugarloaf Treasured Landscape Plan Stakeholders Group – WHERE: Pinecliff Park, with parking and easy river access, will be the site of the demonstration and talkAT NOON: We will head over to a hiking location with whomever wants to go about 2-3 miles! – Please register here to attend the talk and demonstration.
